Where is Here? [phantom/open]

Erm.. I think I'm lost.

The teenage girl stared up at forbidding place, a blank look on her face, in her hand she held a paper bag. A small reward for being cute, to say the very least. Because of her inability to keep a job, Kai mostly got by by getting hand outs; of course she didn't do this in her human form. No, she had a much better way to get handouts. With just a simple thought, she could turn herself into a lovely calico-colored bobtailed cat; most couldn't resisted her cute charm. Today was successful to say the very least, she had gotten a bag full of tasty treats; she was a softly for anything sweet. So what's a better way to enjoy your rewards? Defiantly not in this creepy place. "I think I might of taken a wrong turn somewhere," she thought out loud, running a hand through her crimson dyed hair. All she had done was let her thought wander, then the next moment she was here. This place sucks.. I'd rather be at the manor.. she let out a sigh.

Well, why not try to make the most of it, at least she still had her treats. She easily dodged through the overgrowth, thanks to her cat-like reflexes. Eventually she ended up at the place, or what was left of it; Wow, this place look so interesting! Yes, the one flaw about Kai was that she had to poke her nose into every little thing. Slowly she entered the place, wondering what she'd find.

[Yeah.. I'm bad at naming threads. Haha, this kinda sucks. Sorry >.<]

Inside this place was something that would not be expected to someone looking on the outside. On the outside, it was a building in bad need of repair, but the inside, hehe, the inside had a long tunnel which led back to a living space. Mind you, this is a highly furnished living space. There was a bed in the corner, and a couch and statues made of bronze. The only thing missing was a decent sort of light. Then suddenly, a seemingly fiend of a creature moved out of the dark shadows of the room. This "fiend" turned out to be a young man of about 20 with long silvery hair and crimson eyes. He called himself "thephantomchild". He was strange but oddly with a smooth soft voice he said "You must leave soon, but do not go back the way you came." And thephantomchild pointed in a direction but it only led to a wall. What was he trying to say?

She was always good at getting herself into bad or awkward situation. But that could be blamed on her curious nature; she was a cat after all, in one sense or another. But coming to this place couldn't be blamed on bad luck, she just got easily distracted and well.. you can guess the rest. But at least she still had the treats, yup, they made it all good. Slowly she stepped into the place, her footfalls didn't make a sound; this place was sure different on the inside. Kai didn't expect it to look this cool. It looks like someone might live here, she though, looking around the place. A smile crept onto her face as she noticed the bed; maybe if the person wasn't around the caro would have a nice nap. She started to head toward the bed's direction, but then froze; she wasn't alone. Quickly she spun around to face the strange creature; he sure was an odd one. Though she really could talk; faded blue jeans ripped at the knees and a black hoodie a bit too large for her. Not to mention the blood-red color of her shoulder-length hair.

She smiled at the strange figure, but that smile faded at what he said; Leave..? Why the hell would I want to leave.. Geez, he just wants this place for himself. A low growl escaped her, there was no way she was leaving, and what the hell was with him anyway. He says "leave" then he points to a bloody wall, she just shook her head and sighed. "I ain't leavin', I just got here," she said stubbornly, crossing her arms. She didn't have to worry if saying this would get her in trouble, Kai could almost always find a way out of things. Quickly she grew bored and started to look around the place again, eventually her gaze once again fell onto the strangely clad figure. "So what are you doing in a place like this anyway?"

As he stood there watching this teenage girl invade his space many thoughts ran through his head. She looks tasty but he quickly pushed this thought out of his head and went on to other thoughts like why is she not leaving after i told her to leave and then she spoke to him!!!!! Thephantomchild just stared at this girl for what seemed like hours, then he moved into the shadows of the room, and there was much shuffling around. Thephantomchild returned from the shadows and found the girl snooping around the place. Thephantomchild was very troubled by this. He looked shaken and annoyed. He answered the girl's question. He said "im here to unlock a secret, a secret that im not even sure exists."

Thephantomchild then quickly turned from the girl, muttered something inaudible, grabbed something from a table and sat down in a chair. He was muttering something to himself for a long time and finally looked up at the girl and saw her bag of treats. Reality hit him. This was the first interaction with another being that he had in such a long while. Oddly, he felt inspired by the girls presence as he noticed her pretty hair and face behind her hoodie. He thought to himself there is a reason this girl so unknowingly wandered into my place. He then said with a strong but fearful sounding voice "Why wont you leave this place. Who are you? Where did you come from? and what do you want?"

Her olive-toned eyes narrowed slightly as this strange person before her just seemed to stare at her; it made her feel uneasy. She shifted her gaze slightly so that she wasn't making direct eye contact. It just wasn't her thing to keep eye contact for very long; something she learned while she stayed with the alley cats. Unlock.. Secrets..? that was an odd reason to be in a place. Or maybe it was just too complex for her; her main reason for going somewhere was because she was just curious, it was just that simple. That was why she had opted for entering this strange place. She became slightly annoyed when she couldn't catch what the other was saying, even with her sensitive hearing. So not fair her thought growled childishly.

Kai jumped in surprise when he spoke to her again, she hadn't been expecting that sort of voice. "Heh, you sure do have a lot of questions," she said with a small smile. "But I suppose I can answer them." She unfolded her arms and lowered her hood, seeing no reason to keep it up any longer. "The name's Kai, and I don't have to leave if I don't want to. I just got here.. Well, where I come from.. I just originally came from a small town before running away, now I just sorta wander around really." She avoided the 'what do you want' question, for she really didn't have an answer to that. "Now I get to ask some more questions, right?" she smirked slightly, then jumped into her questions, not giving the other any time to answer. "So what are you? And why do you need to unlock secrets?"

Thephantomchild was very intrigued by this girls persistence. He chuckled to himself. I must figure out why destiny has brought her here to this place, he thought. His stomach growled as he eyed the girl again but he pushed all thoughts of feeding out of his mind. The only substances he had in the past few months was rodent blood and that gets quite old very fast. Unfortuneatly, any other type of food besides blood would make him sick.

Speaking confidently he said, "I am a vampire, however, I am not like most other vampires. As for the secrets, I need to unlock the secrets of myself as well as the secrets of these tunnels." He pointed to the wall again. He moved closer to the wall with a candle and revealed the wall had carvings on them. The carvings were of what seemed like a labyrinth and they showed entrances to tunnels but it showed no exits to the tunnels like the carvings had just cut off. "The carvings on this wall i fear are very important to me, although im not sure why. I also fear unlocking this puzzle will turn out to be very important to everyone. I also believe you, girl, are a piece of this puzzle sent to me by destiny. However, you are free to leave if you wish. I will not keep you here against your will. However, if you leave at anytime, it is of utmost importance you do not leave by the same way you came. I guess the question is would you help me?"

Her head tilted slightly as "thephantomchild" as she remember he'd first introduced himself as stated that he was a "vampire." Now.. what was a vampire again? She had a blank and clueless expression on her face; this is what her short attention span got her. Oh well, maybe it would come to her. Her attention started to fade off of the conversation, but at the mention of tunnels, the teenage boy got back her interest. Tunnels, awesome.. Er, the wall again? she just couldn't figure out why he had such an interested in the damn wall; I mean, it was just your average wall, right? Without thinking, she walked over to where the other stood, only then did she notice the carvings. "Oh, wow," she mumbled softly, touching a carving with her free hand. This place just kept getting better and better.

Kai had never seen anything like this before, it was amazing; the closest thing she could recall was the graffiti that covered some of the alley walls. At first she listened intently as the other spoke, but as his speech went on, her attention waned, until she was fully zoned out. Her attention span was a rather big flaw in her personality, it seemed to always get her lost in something. As it was about to do for her now; "Yeah, yeah, sure," she said when the place had gone silent. Oh, if only she'd of know what in the world she had gotten herself into. "Hey wait," she said, remembering something the vampire had spoken. "I'm not a girl, I'm a caro." Of course that was the only part she had caught.. Her stomach growled lightly, and she remembered the bag in her hand, Oh, yeah. she opened the paper bag and pulled out a cookie and slowly began to munch on it. "Oh, do you want one, Phantom?" she asked, finding "thephantomchild" too long to say; she held the bag toward him, a small smile on her face. "They're good."

Caro? Cookie? What are these things? Are these more puzzles to unlock? The world is even stranger than i thought. And im pretty sure this Caro or whatever she is didnt even pay attention to a word i said. hmphhh. Phantom looked at this "cookie" offered to him. He suddenly got a sick feeling in his stomach. Did she not know what a vampire was?

"Um.. Wha.. um..." phantom was taken aback at this offer of a cookie. "What is a cookie? and what is a Caro?" Phantom sensed that Kai was not paying attention to him. A tear came to phantoms eye as rage started building up in him again. "Why wont you listen to me!" he yelled. He regreted this the moment the words left his pale lips. Phantom ran into the shadows, wanting to take a moment to calm his rage. What would the girl err caro think of him now?

[Kai]

She didn't mean to do it; it was just a flaw to her personality, her shortened attention span. If it wasn't that interesting to her, Kai quickly zoned out. Or more often, found something better to do; which in this case was munching happily on her sweet treats. But something did managed to capture her attention, these carving, and this deal with the tunnels. And this strange person--vampire, she had run into. If it got anymore interesting, maybe she would be able to pay attention better...

She blinked in surprise at Phantom's response when she offered him a cookie. He sure is weird, she thought, reaching into her bag and grabbing another cookie out. He seems like one person one moment, then another in another moment... odd.. "Why wont you listen to me!" She turned quickly to find her strange companion suddenly gone. Just great, now look what her short attention span had gotten her; Great.. what'd I miss? her thoughts groaned as she began looking for the missing vampire. "Umm, Phantom, I'm sorry I wasn't listening.." Dammit.. where is he? She let out a small sigh and plopped down on the bed; she did slightly remember him asking what a cookie and caro was. "If you come out, I'll show you what a caro is?" she said aloud, hoping the guy was still within the room. Kai hoped that this would make the other show himself.

[sorry about this.. my muse has been a bit dull lately, and now I think it just died Xp]

Phantom took a few deep breaths to calm himself down as he muttered obscenities about his life and this girl that wandered into his den. Would this girl ever listen. Quite honestly I dont care what a Caro is. I just want to figure out my F---- life. I want to know why I am what I am. As the phantom thought his rage was eventually calmed and he reentered the room where Kai was.

"I am back, Kai. I just needed a moment because i have anger... errr i mean i forgot something over there." Phantom decided he should try to take the whole thing slow because he realized this was all to much to thrust on a person all at once. He decided the first thing to do was befriend this girl or Caro or whatever creature she was. He thought maybe this would tell him why exactly destiny had brought her into his presence. "Kai, I would love for you to show me what a Caro is. I would offer you something to drink but im afraid you wont like what i have to offer. What hobbies and things do you like to do Kai? I mean besides snooping around other peoples places. You seem like a very interesting creature that i would like to make friends with."



[ sorry about not posting in awhile. I have been and still am feeling very uninspired to do anything except blast music and play video games all day. its been a depressing week]

Her olive-toned eyes gazed around as a bored expression crossed her features; waiting was well, boring. Her hand reached into the paper bag and withdrew another cookie; it was a wonder what kid would think of giving this treat to a cat, but, whatever. She sure didn't mind. Sweet treats didn't come often to the girl, and she wasn't about to pass them up just cause she was a cute kitty. Sure she got some strange looks from a few of the townspeople, but hell, she was use to getting it. Kai was the 'local stray' a name a few of the people had dubbed her, mostly do to the fact that she really was a 'stray' so to speak. Without a family or a job, she had taken to the alley-cat life, and it was fun, to her at least.

She smiled when the reclusive vampire reappeared; "Ah, so you've come back now?" she chuckled. Again with the questions.. Is this like 20 questions or something? Kai really didn't see why Phantom had so many questions, but at least she had someone to talk to. Not that she didn't have company, but, well, they all spoke in cat.. It had been a little while since she'd had a real conversation with someone that spoke human. "Okay, first things first, you wanna see a caro, right?" A mischievous smile appeared as she stood up and stretched. All right, here we go. It seemed to only happen in a matter of seconds, where once stood the odd girl was now a calico japanese-bobtail cat. The feline's eyes glittered with amusement, "Yep, a caro can turn into a feline.. Just as a devoto can turn into a canine." Even though she was a cat, so to say, she spoke perfect english. With a graceful leap, she landed onto the bed and sat down. "Hmm.. so you also wanna know what I like.." her head titled slightly as she thought about that for a moment. "Well, I kinda just wander around.. I like food, especially sweet things. The manor's got some really great food, though the staff there aren't really too fond of me.." She purred with amusement; the staff there just didn't like the way Kai just sneaked in and grabbed the food without saying a word. "So what do you like Phantom?"

Wow... Phantom just stared at the girl blankly for a while. I really was not expecting that. Pretty cool though. That would be a helpful gift to have. Phantom just gazed off into space as his mind was comprehending what just happened. He eventually looked back at the girl with a cynical smile on his face. Phantom heard the girl say something about canines and how she liked sweets and something about a manor but he really was not paying attention at all.

"Wow Kai, thats pretty amazing. I have never seen one of your kind before.".................................................................................................
Phantom realized he was staring to intently into the girls eyes as his mouth started to water. He must have been just staring for at least 5 minutes. That must have been awkward for her. "S-Sorry" Phantom muttered, although hardly audible. He quickly snapped out of his state of amazement and his devilish smile came back to his face. "Do you do that often Kai?" There were so many questions he wanted to ask her but knew that if he asked all of them she would get annoyed and maybe leave. So he decided to ask just one more qestion. "Can you stay in that form for a long period of time? Like if you were in a long narrow crawl space that would take a long time to get through?" The phantom eyed the the hole in the bottom of the wall. The same wall with all the weird markings. He didn't want to reveal his intentions to Kai just yet. He thought he should make friends with her first so it didn't seem like he was just using her, because there were a dozen other tasks he could use her ability for, and also because he thought she was nice and an ally in this cruel world would be helpful.

She was happy to be once more in this form. Humans are so inflexible, only having around 206 bones, while a feline sports around 230 bones. And we shall not get into how poor the humans senses are. Not that Kai had to worry too much about that, her senses were pretty close to cat level while in human form. Her ears swiveled around catching the quiet sounds of this strange place; that was one of the things she missed doing while in her other form. I wonder how humans have managed to even survive. They lack so much stuff. She gave the cat version of a shrug when the boy thought her 'ability' was amazing. It was just, well, what she was. Her jaws parted slightly as a low hiss escaped them; she didn't like how Phantom was staring at her, not one bit. Her eyes narrowed; What the hell? Doesn't he know its not cool to stare. An ear flicked slightly as it caught his quiet sorry; "Its okay," she mumbled softly. I guess..

She blinked, a dull expression crossing her feline features; Yep.. This sure as hell is 20 questions. An ear flicked in slight annoyance, she wasn't too happy. She was the one that was suppose to annoy people; not the other way around. But she might as well answer his questions, its not like she had somewhere to go. "Yeah, I go into this form a lot. How else do you think I get free stuff?" she gave a cat-ish grin and patted the cookie bag with a paw. "Yeah, I can stay like this for however long I want, the longest I went was almost a year.. But I'm sure I could spend a lifetime as a kitty." She didn't quite understand his last question; that one seemed a bit odd to say the least. "Well.. If my head can fit, the rest of me can." After answering all the vampire's questions, she turned her attention to the paper bag containing her sweet treats. Now lets see.. Kai stuck her head into the bag, then pulled it out, in her mouth was a cookie. After a few bites, the treat was gone and she went fishing into the bag for another one.
